Russia and Cuba discussed issues of sectoral cooperation

Today, within the framework of "Transport Week - 2021", State Secretary - Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Dmitry Zverev met with First Deputy Minister of Transport of the Republic of Cuba Marta Rivero.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Transport, Marta Rivero thanked the Ministry of Transport of Russia for its assistance in solving critical problems in the delivery of medical supplies to Cuba during an acute period of deteriorating epidemiological situation.

The meeting participants discussed issues of cooperation in the field of railway transport. In particular, they positively assessed the progress of the project to restore and modernize railways on the island.

In addition, the parties exchanged views on the dynamics of the implementation of the project for the creation of the infrastructure of the Global Maritime Distress System (GMDSS) in Cuba, in terms of the elaboration of the terms of reference and the development of project documentation.

Dmitry Zverev noted the readiness of the Russian side to send technical specialists to assess the technical condition of hydraulic structures, the volume of repair and restoration work and their cost, as well as to resume cooperation on the project for the reconstruction and modernization of seaports in Cuba.

Also, representatives of transport departments highly appreciated the scale and activity of cooperation between the countries in the field of transport education.
