Iran’s Military is Ready to Protect Oil Tankers Against Threats, Deputy Commander

Iran’s armed forces will protect Iranian oil tankers against any threats, an Iranian military official said on Monday after the United States called the ships a “floating liability” and warned ports operators not to allow them to dock. The United States resumed sanctions on Iran’s oil, shipping and banking industries last Monday after U.S. President Donald Trump pulled out of a 2015 international agreement curbing Iran’s nuclear program in May.

3 crew died in cargo hold of Japanese timber carrier


Three crew of a general cargo ship APPOLO KITA were taken to hospital on Ishigaki island, Japan, Okinawa Prefecture, on Nov 9, after they lost consciousness while working at cargo hold. The ship interrupted her voyage, from Malaysia Kalimantan to Hannan Japan, with cargo of logs, and arrived at Ishigaki anchorage at around 1530 Tokyo time. All three seamen, of Filipino nationality, died. Cause of deaths is believed to be lack of oxygen in cargo hold. As of 0030 Tokyo time

Introduction Aeronautical engineers were puzzled when they studied flight characteristics of waterfowl that had spread their wings to glide for extended distances close to the water surface. The theory of flight based on a vacuum effect on the upper wing surface suggested that waterfowl should not be capable of gliding over such extended distances without input of propulsive energy. They discovered that air flow dynamics between water surface and wing underside kept the waterfowl aloft and built scale model test vehicles to verify such flight dynamics that required far less energy than traditional higher elevation flight.
