Germany will invest 1 billion euros to support the marine industry and environmental projects

Germany has committed € 1 billion to support the maritime industry and shipping-related environmental projects.

This was stated by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, speaking with an appeal to the participants of the conference on shipping issues, which is taking place in Rostock.

“The sustainable development of the maritime industry can be an example that even in times of crisis, chances can be seized,” she said. “This is easier said than done, but the federal government wants to support the maritime economy so that it can emerge from the crisis and occupy new niches. We have allocated an additional 1 billion euros. In this way, we support marine research, the transition to environmentally friendly engines and vessels for refueling with alternative fuels, "- said Merkel.
