Cruise ships of foreign companies are allowed to make more than two stops in Hainan

The authorities of the southern Chinese province of Hainan from October 15 this year will allow cruise ships of foreign operators to add more than two stopping points to their routes at the island's free trade port.

These measures will be valid until December 31, 2024. It is also noted that the innovation is aimed at developing the cruise industry of the free trade port.

Cruise ship operators must apply to the Hainan Provincial Transportation Authority to obtain a permit. 10 working days are given for consideration of the application. For its approval, operators must also provide passenger insurance documents and be responsible for ensuring safety, environmental compliance and other regulations governing the stay of foreign ships in Hainan.

According to the newspaper, after visiting the island, passengers will have to return to the ship and leave the territory of the free port of the island of Hainan.

The PRC authorities plan to turn Hainan into a yacht tourism center and an international cruise ship trading base. The Chinese island is often referred to as "Eastern Hawaii" - natural landscapes, tropical forests, a developed hotel chain combined with beaches and a coastline of more than 1.9 thousand km, before the pandemic, the island attracted guests from the most remote parts of the world.
