Description
Responsibilities/Duties
Helmsman.Lookout.Handles lines/wires to and from other vessels or structures during operations at the direction of the Officer in Charge of the Navigation Watch.Tends mooring lines.Performs assigned firefighting, man overboard and abandon ship duties as assigned on the Station Bill.Handles fuel, lube oil and water transfer hoses under the direction of the Person in Charge (PIC).Assists Captain or Mate in the maintenance of lifesaving and firefighting systems and equipment.Assist vessel officers as directed in training and evaluating subordinate Deck Department personnel.Performs cleaning and maintenance as assigned by the Captain.Accountable for maintaining safe, clean condition of own stateroom for participating with other crew to maintain public spaces in like condition.Receives, stows and secures supplies and provisions brought aboard.Loads, positions and secures cargo as directed by the Captain.Participate in all required training, drills and exercises.Performs assigned firefighting, man overboard and abandon ship duties as assigned on the Station Bill.Project a positive company image to customers, other mariners, terminal personnel and the public.Other duties as may be assigned by the Captain.
Preferred Experience
Tug experience as Ordinary Seaman at least two years.
Required Qualifications:
Current U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential with Able Seaman (AB) rating.
STCW Certification (offshore towing only).
Valid Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).
High school diploma or equivalent.
