Job Description
Cardiff Crewing Filipinas Inc. is urgently recruiting 1 Steward to join an LNG vessel. The successful candidate must have previous cruise ship experience and will be responsible for providing practical onboard training and guidance to the cooks and galley team.
The role has a strong focus on improving galley stores management, food handling practices, consumption monitoring, hygiene, and waste reduction. The Steward will support the galley team in applying established company procedures and maintaining efficient use of provisions onboard.
Key Responsibilities
As per company policy, the main duties may include but are not limited to:
- Provide practical onboard training and guidance to cooks and galley personnel.
- Train the galley team in proper handling, storage, and segregation of provisions.
- Ensure correct application of FIFO (First In, First Out) and FEFO (First Expired, First Out) principles.
- Support fresh-provision management and seasonal consumption planning.
- Monitor portion control and daily food consumption.
- Ensure compliance with company-approved supply lists.
- Promote high standards of hygiene and food safety.
- Assist in reducing food waste and optimizing available onboard stores.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Steward or in a comparable galley-support role.
- Cruise ship experience is required.
- Practical knowledge of galley operations and provisions management.
- Experience with food storage, segregation, and stock control.
- Knowledge of FIFO / FEFO principles.
- Understanding of food hygiene and food safety practices.
- Ability to train and guide cooks and galley team members.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Valid STCW certificates.
- Valid seafarer medical certificate.
- Proficiency in English communication.
