Unmanned ship was in an awful hurricane

Scientists have launched an autonomous (unmanned) ship Saildrone into the Atlantic Ocean - it looks like a small robotic sailboat with a camera installed. The drone traveled inside Category 4 Hurricane Sam and transmitted footage of its journey to one of the world's most destructive weather systems.

The ship overcomes 15-meter waves and gusts of wind, the speed of which is over 190 km / h. The vessel can measure wind speed and direction, as well as monitor temperature, humidity, water salinity and barometric pressure.

The design allows you to stay afloat even in the most unfavorable weather conditions, power is provided by wind and sun energy.
The drone is currently in the Atlantic Ocean collecting data for scientists studying hurricanes.

The data should help make predictive models for hurricanes more accurate, according to US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration expert Greg Foltz. Nowadays, when there are more natural disasters that threaten the inhabitants of the coast, this becomes especially urgent.
