Turkey's first floating LNG terminal for natural gas storage

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan opened the country's first floating LNG regasification terminal for storing natural gas.
The ceremony in Hatay province was broadcast by the TV channel NTV.

The Ertugrul Gazi ship belongs to the Botash oil and gas company. It is capable of regasifying up to 28 million cubic meters of gas per day.

"This vessel, which sails under our flag, thanks to its capacity will be able to cover more than 10% of Turkey's natural gas needs. In particular, it will provide our country with important flexibility in the winter, when consumption surges," Erdogan said. In addition, the president recalled that from 2023 the republic will start using its own gas from the Black Sea shelf, which will also give the country more opportunities in terms of reducing its dependence on fuel imports.
