New LNG bunkering vessel is ready in Estonia

The christening ceremony of the LNG bunkering vessel Optimus was held in Tallinn.

Refueling of other vessels with LNG with Optimus can be carried out both onshore and on the open sea, the tanks can hold more than 5,000 cubic meters of gas.

It is noted that there are no such bunker vessels in the Baltic Sea region, therefore, Estonia's neighbors have also begun to show interest in its operation. The owner of the vessel is the Estonian gas concern Eesti Gaas.

“We start our work with the bunkering of the Tallink Megastar passenger liner. We have a large list of clients who request this service, both in the port of Tallinn and in other Estonian ports, as well as in Finnish ones, ”said the project manager of Optimus.

It is emphasized that, despite Optimus belonging to an Estonian company, the ship will sail under the flag of Latvia. This is due to the fact that it is there that there is a sufficient number of competent specialists capable of servicing a vessel of this type.

The information does not specify how the LNG vessel will be in demand amid record high prices for gas fuel.
