National Oilwell Varco is a well-known company, the world leaders in development, manufacture and sale of drilling equipment and components for use in drilling and oil and gas production, maintenance and supervision, supply services for large industry organizations. By the way, recently NOV landed a good contract with China Merchants Heavy Industry, which is the largest Chinese state-run multi-skilled conglomerate based in Hong Kong, to create and deliver some equipment for OHT’s new wind turbine installation vessel. The contract was signed through VIND Offshore Installation 1 in October.
It is no great surprise that the ship will be created with many fresh, modern features. It will have its own lift crane and the whole installation will be specially adapted to make a next-generation marine wind unit with a significantly reduced carbon footprint, which is very harmful.
Moreover, it will be designed with a hybrid battery solution and an electrical control system to reduce bumps by 20 per cent in comparison to similar size installation receptacles. So we are waiting for it by 2023.
