German U35 submarine started hunting Mediterranean Sea

Germany sent an ultra-quiet anaerobic diesel-electric submarine U35 (S185) of project 212A to the Mediterranean Sea, which has a number of serious advantages over the submarines of the Russian Navy.

The U35 submarine has an extremely low acoustic signature. German engineers managed to achieve impressive results, according to this indicator, their brainchild surpasses even the Russian low-noise diesel-electric submarine of project 636.3 "Varshavyanka". The manufacture of the submarine's hull from low-magnetic steel made the U35 almost invisible to the sonar buoys equipped with the Il-38N and Tu-142M3 anti-submarine aircraft, as well as the MGK-400EM Rubikon-M sonar systems installed on the same Varshavyanka.

But the main advantage of U35 is its anaerobic power plant, which is based on "long-playing" electrochemical hydrogen-oxygen fuel cells. Thanks to her, the German submarine is able to continuously stay under water for 15-20 days. Russian submarines have to float to the surface to start diesel generators in RPD mode and recharge the batteries.

Thus, they reveal their location. Deprived of this shortcoming, the U35 is a truly formidable force, and specialists from the Russian Federation should hurry to respond to a sudden threat.
