Fully vaccinated cruise ship experiences COVID-19 outbreak

On a cruise ship, all passengers and crew were fully vaccinated, there was an outbreak of COVID-19. This was reported by the ABC News TV channel.

The Celebrity Millennium is the largest cruise ship with only vaccinated people on board. The company believed that this approach would allow it to resume operations despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

However, when disembarking on the Caribbean island of Sint Maarten, two passengers were diagnosed with an infection. Both passengers reportedly shared the same cabin. They will remain on Sint Maarten until they test negative for coronavirus. The crew of the cruise ship is now trying to identify all the people with whom the infected have come into contact.

At the beginning of the pandemic, outbreaks of coronavirus occurred on several cruise ships at once. The most notorious incident is the outbreak on the Diamond Princess cruise ship. On February 5, 2020, the ship was quarantined in the port of the Japanese city of Yokohama after the coronavirus was detected in one of the passengers, an 80-year-old Hong Kong resident. In total, the ship carried about 3.7 thousand passengers from more than 50 countries.
More than 700 of them were diagnosed with the disease, and seven passengers died.
