Fesco plans to acquire six vessels in 2021

The Fesco transport group plans to upgrade its fleet by a third in 2021 and acquire up to 6 ships, but fears a significant increase in their value.
"As part of the fleet renewal strategy, we are gradually replacing old ships with more modern ones. So, this year we are considering the possibility of acquiring up to six vessels - container ships and multipurpose ships," the head of the company said.
But as the top manager added, it is difficult to find suitable vessels in the current environment. "The demand for them is colossal. The cost of ships on the market has grown dramatically - by about 30%," he explained.

According to the head of the company, the high demand for ships, containers and platforms also contributes to the fact that freight rates will remain at high levels for the time being and will not return to the pre-pandemic values of 2019 - early 2020.

Nevertheless, Fesco also intends to increase the fleet of fitin platforms, containers and reefer containers. "We plan to purchase about 300 refrigerated containers alone. We also plan to attract 1.5-2 thousand units of fitting platforms," said Korostelev. But with conventional containers, the situation is the same as with ships. "The prices are very high and there are no [containers], but there is an investment program, so we will try to fulfill it," he added.
