Job Description

Atlas NextWave is recruiting qualified and motivated maritime professionals to join a Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) operating at London Gateway, United Kingdom.

The initial assignment is for six weeks, with the opportunity to return after leave and move onto a permanent crew rotation schedule.

Candidates should have relevant experience for their applied positions, hold the required certificates where specified, and be ready to join according to the dates below.

Key Responsibilities

Greaser

• Assist with the operation and maintenance of engine-room machinery.
• Monitor equipment condition, lubrication, and machinery performance.
• Carry out routine inspections and report defects to engineering officers.
• Maintain engine-room cleanliness and follow safety procedures.

Bosun

• Supervise deck ratings and coordinate daily deck activities.
• Assist with deck maintenance, mooring, and operational tasks.
• Inspect and maintain deck equipment and safety gear.
• Ensure assigned work is carried out safely and efficiently.

Deckhands

• Carry out deck maintenance, cleaning, painting, and preservation.
• Assist with mooring, anchoring, and dredging-related deck operations.
• Maintain deck equipment and participate in safety drills.
• Follow instructions from the Bosun and deck officers.

Welder

• Perform welding, fabrication, and repair work as required.
• Inspect materials and prepare components for welding.
• Follow approved welding procedures and onboard safety requirements.
• Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition.

Cook

• Prepare meals for officers and crew.
• Maintain galley cleanliness and food hygiene standards.
• Manage food storage and assist with provisioning.
• Follow onboard catering and safety procedures.

Requirements

• Relevant experience in the position applied for.
• Greaser: STCW III/5 certificate as specified in the vacancy.
• Bosun: STCW II/5 certificate as specified in the vacancy.
• Deckhands: STCW II/5 certificate as specified in the vacancy.
• Welder applicants should have relevant welding experience and applicable qualifications.
• Cook applicants should have relevant catering experience and required food-hygiene documentation.
• Valid Seaman's Book and medical fitness certificate, where applicable.
• Valid STCW certificates and other required maritime documents relevant to the position.
• Good communication skills and a professional, safety-conscious attitude.
• Willingness to complete the initial six-week assignment, with potential for future rotation employment.
