Job Description

An opportunity is available for experienced maritime professionals to join two conventional tugboats operating in the Caribbean.

The company is seeking safety-conscious candidates with proven tugboat experience, strong technical skills, and a commitment to professional standards. Candidates with relevant experience in tug operations, barge handling, marine engineering, and deck operations are encouraged to apply.

South African seafarers are particularly welcomed, while qualified international candidates will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

As per company policy, the main duties may include but are not limited to:

• Conducting safe tugboat operations and assisting with towing and barge-handling activities.
• Maintaining navigational safety and supervising deck operations according to rank.
• Operating, inspecting, and maintaining propulsion engines and auxiliary machinery.
• Assisting with engine-room operations, equipment repairs, and routine maintenance.
• Maintaining safe working practices and complying with onboard procedures.
• Supporting efficient vessel operations and emergency preparedness.

Requirements

• Relevant maritime certificates and qualifications for the applied position.
• Proven experience on conventional tugboats is required.
• Previous barge-handling experience for relevant deck officers.
• Strong technical and mechanical skills for engineering positions.
• Fluent English for Masters and officers.
• English or Spanish accepted for unlicensed crew.
• Caribbean and Latin American candidates are particularly encouraged.
• US visa holders preferred, but not essential.
• Valid passport, seafarer's documents, medical certificate, and applicable STCW certificates.
• International applicants with suitable experience will also be considered.

Position-Specific Requirements

Tug 1 – Master

• Experience operating conventional twin-screw tugboats.
• Barge-handling experience.

Tug 1 – Chief Mate

- Experience in tug operations and barge handling.

Tug 1 – Chief Engineer

• Experience with Cummins K38 and 6BTA engines.
• Diesel engine repairs and maintenance.
• Knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Welding skills.

Tug 1 – Able Seaman

- Previous tugboat deckhand experience.

Tug 1 – Ordinary Seaman / Cook

• Previous tugboat experience.
• Ability to perform assigned deck and catering duties.

Tug 1 – Oiler

• Engine-room assistance experience.
• Experience supporting tugboat deck operations.

Tug 2 – Master

• Conventional twin-screw tug experience.
• Turks and Caicos experience is an advantage.

Tug 2 – Ordinary Seaman / Cook

- Previous tugboat experience.

Tug 2 – Oiler

• Experience maintaining Cummins 855 engines.
• Ability to carry out basic vessel repairs.
