Job Description

Curtin Maritime is recruiting experienced tugboat mariners to support its dredging and marine construction operations across the United States.

Crew members will work aboard powerful 4,000 HP class tugboats, towing 6,000-yard-capacity scows and supporting challenging marine construction and dredging projects. Operations will be focused primarily on the U.S. East Coast over the next six months.

The company is seeking capable and experienced maritime professionals who take pride in their skills, value teamwork and enjoy hands-on tugboat operations.

Open Positions

Deck Department

• Captain – Up to USD 1,320 per day
• Mate – Up to USD 840 per day
• Deckhand – Up to USD 550 per day
• Able Seaman (AB) – Up to USD 550 per day

Engine Department

• Engineer – Up to USD 1,000 per day

Key Responsibilities

As per company policy, the main duties may include but are not limited to:

Captain / Mate

• Navigate and manoeuvre tugboats safely during towing operations
• Supervise vessel operations and crew activities
• Coordinate towing and scow movements
• Ensure compliance with maritime safety procedures

Engineer

• Operate and maintain main engines and auxiliary machinery
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and maintain engine-room readiness

Deckhand / Able Seaman

• Assist with towing, line handling and deck operations
• Support safe connection and disconnection of towing equipment
• Perform deck maintenance and vessel preservation
• Participate in onboard safety procedures and emergency drills

Requirements

• Previous tugboat experience is mandatory
• Dredging experience is strongly preferred
• Relevant maritime licences and certifications for the applied position
• Valid STCW certificates, where applicable
• Valid passport and medical certificate
• Good English communication skills
• Strong practical seamanship and safety awareness
• Ability to work effectively as part of a professional marine crew
