Responsibilities
The wiper will:
Clean the engine room and surrounding area as directed.
Perform a variety of duties to preserve painted surfaces of the ship — daily maintenance, sanitation, general upkeep, lines, running gear, and cargo-handling gear in a safe operating condition as directed.
Report any shortcomings, inaccuracies, or conflicts in any portion of the MS to the master.
Marine Functions
The wiper will:
Adhere to and comply with company policies and USCG and environmental regulations.
Work a rotation watch involving 8 or 12 hours in a 24-hour period with occasional hours not to exceed 14 consecutive hours.
Clean, paint, and perform general housekeeping on the vessel.
Be responsible for handling lines for the mooring of the vessel.
Assist in the engine room.
Break out, rig, overhaul, and stow cargo-handling gear, stationary rigging, and running gear.
Paint and chip rust in the engine room.
Scrub and clean the engine room and surrounding area.
