Job Description:

A leading offshore operator is recruiting an experienced Chief Engineer to join its fleet of Offshore Support Vessels (OSVs) operating in Canada. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the engine department, ensuring compliance with Canadian maritime regulations and company QHSE standards while supporting offshore operations on DP vessels.

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Manage the safe and efficient operation of the engine room, propulsion systems, and auxiliary machinery. 
  •  Supervise the maintenance of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and deck machinery systems. 
  •  Ensure compliance with Planned Maintenance System (PMS), Class requirements, and survey schedules. 
  •  Maintain vessel technical manuals, engine room documentation, and MARPOL records. 
  •  Oversee engine room operations during DP activities and maintain all DP engine checklists. 
  •  Prepare dry dock specifications and maintenance work scopes in cooperation with Vessel Management. 
  •  Monitor spare parts inventory and recommend stock levels according to operational requirements. 
  •  Support implementation of the Company's Safety Management System (SMS) and Permit to Work (PTW) system. 
  •  Lead engine room personnel, conduct Toolbox Talks, safety meetings, and promote QHSE culture onboard. 
  •  Ensure compliance with ISM Code, ISPS Code, MARPOL, Transport Canada regulations, and company policies. 
  •  Perform engine room watchkeeping duties when required. 

Requirements:

  •  Post-Secondary Education in Marine Engineering
  •  Valid First Class Motor Ship Certificate of Competency (CoC)
  •  Valid STCW certificates: 
    •  Basic Safety (BST) 
    •  Medical Emergency Duties (MED) 
    •  Survival Craft (SC) 
    •  Advanced Fire Fighting (AFF) 
    •  Marine First Aid 
  •  Valid Canadian Seafarer's Medical Certificate
  •  Valid Canadian Passport
  • DP Maintenance Training
  •  Experience on Offshore Support Vessels (OSVs) with diesel-electric and hybrid propulsion systems
  •  Experience on large AHTS vessels is considered an advantage. 
  •  Strong knowledge of ISM, ISPS, MARPOL, Transport Canada, and Canadian offshore regulations. 
  •  Demonstrated leadership experience in offshore operations. 
  •  Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. 
  •  Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. 
  •  Successful candidates must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and may be required to complete a criminal background check
