Job Description

Atlas NextWave is seeking an experienced Bosun to join a Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) operating at London Gateway, UK.

The successful candidate will supervise deck ratings, coordinate routine deck operations, and support the safe execution of vessel maintenance and dredging-related activities. The role offers an initial six-week assignment, with the possibility of returning after leave for a permanent rotation schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise deck ratings and coordinate daily deck activities.
• Organize deck maintenance, cleaning, painting, and preservation.
• Assist with mooring, anchoring, and other vessel operations.
• Inspect and maintain deck equipment, tools, and safety gear.
• Coordinate tasks assigned by the Chief Officer and other senior officers.
• Support dredging-related deck operations as required.
• Report equipment defects and unsafe conditions.
• Ensure compliance with onboard safety procedures and participate in drills.

Requirements

• Relevant maritime experience in a Bosun or senior deck rating role.
• STCW II/5 certificate, as specified in the vacancy.
• Previous dredger or similar vessel experience preferred.
• Valid Seaman’s Book and medical fitness certificate, where applicable.
• Valid STCW certificates and other required maritime documentation.
• Good knowledge of deck maintenance and safe working practices.
• Leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Availability to join on 23 December 2026.
