Job Description

Navis is recruiting an experienced Second Engineer to join a Container Vessel operating in the Caribbean and Central America.

The successful candidate will assist the Chief Engineer in managing engine-room operations, maintaining propulsion and auxiliary machinery, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all technical systems onboard.

Applicants must have substantial experience as a Second Engineer on similar vessel types, including mandatory experience with four-stroke engines.

Position Available

• Second Engineer – USD 8,480 per month

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Chief Engineer in managing engine department operations
• Supervise engine-room personnel and maintenance activities
• Operate, inspect and maintain main engines and auxiliary machinery
• Ensure proper maintenance and operation of four-stroke engine systems
• Implement and monitor the Planned Maintenance System (PMS)
• Maintain machinery records, technical reports and engine-room logs
• Coordinate spare parts management and technical repairs
• Ensure compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code and company HSE procedures

Requirements

• Valid Second Engineer Certificate of Competency (CoC) with Flag State Endorsement
• Minimum 24 months of actual sea service as Second Engineer onboard similar vessel types
• Previous Container Vessel experience is required
• Mandatory experience with four-stroke engines
• English language test completed within the last 3 months
• Valid STCW certification package
• Valid passport and seaman's book
• Valid medical certificate
• References from previous employers
• Updated CV with complete sea service history
• Copies of all seaman's book pages confirming sea service
• Fully vaccinated against COVID-19
• Good English communication skills
• Strong technical, leadership and safety management skills
