Job Description
Nabors is seeking a Roustabout to support safe and efficient operations across an offshore drilling rig. The Roustabout works under the direction of the Crane Operator and reports to the Rig Manager.
The role involves general deck and rig maintenance, cargo and supply handling, assisting the Crane Operator and Derrickhand, and supporting drilling operations when appropriately trained.
This is a full-time, field-based position requiring the ability to work a 14 days on / 14 days off schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The position may involve living and working in close quarters and occasional travel.
Key Responsibilities
As per company policy, the main duties may include but are not limited to:
- Assist the Crane Operator with loading and offloading supply vessels and moving equipment, pipe, and supplies around the rig.
- Attach slings and cables to equipment and assist with lifting operations.
- Perform general housekeeping, washing, chipping, painting, and maintenance activities around the rig.
- Assist the Derrickhand in the mud pit, mud pump, and chemical sack areas.
- Assist with basic plumbing and sewage-system maintenance and repairs.
- When appropriately trained, relieve the Floorhand on the drilling crew.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Crane Operator, Deck Foreman, or Rig Manager.
Requirements
- 0–2 years of Roustabout experience with another drilling company
- Ability to successfully complete Roustabout Training at the Nabors Training Center
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to wear respiratory protective devices
- Reliable transportation to the designated crew-change point
- Ability to work 14 days on / 14 days off
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and potentially on-call periods
- Ability to work in a physically demanding drilling-rig environment
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to work safely while wearing required PPE
Physical & Operational Requirements
The position requires the ability to:
- Remain alert and attentive during up to 12-hour tours
- Stand and walk for extended periods on steel decking, grating, and potentially wet vessel decks
- Repeatedly lift and carry items weighing up to approximately 60 lbs
- Push or pull forces of up to 120 lbs when handling tag lines
- Bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and crawl throughout the work shift
- Identify Crane Operator hand signals from approximately 150 feet
- Transfer between a supply/cargo vessel and the rig using a personnel basket
- Work safely at height and over water during personnel-transfer operations
