REPORTING: Reports to the Chief Electrician
PREREQUISITES / QUALIFICATIONS: - Graduate of Trade School or University where knowledge and training acquired are applicable to job requirements High School Diploma/ Bachelor's degree in Electrician/ Proof of Completion of Formal Education or Relevant Craft Certificate (where applicable)
5 years' experience on Drillship Vessel
Knowledge of all technical calculations required for electrical operation of the drilling unit and basic computer skills
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Operations/Maintenance: - Perform daily inspections and maintenance on electrical equipment - Authority I - Comply with the permit to work and isolation systems - Authority I - Carry out periodic maintenance according to the Rig Maintenance System (RMS) guidelines and coordinate that maintenance with supervisor and other department heads - Authority III - Maintain, troubleshoot and repair all power generation and distribution equipment, i.e. generators and engine controls, SCRs, switchgears, transformers, etc. - Authority II - Assist with the maintenance and repair of general rig equipment such as HVAC system, refrigeration plants, communication systems, lighting, etc. - Authority II - Carry out maintenance and repair on electrical components of drilling equipment, i.e. Driller’s console, DC drilling motors and auxiliaries, Top Drive System, drawworks, mud pumps, etc. - Authority III - Carry out maintenance and repair on electrical components of marine equipment, i.e. thruster motors and auxiliaries, ballast pumps, control panels, cranes, etc. - Authority III - Install new equipment as required, with regards to electrical wiring, fixtures and junction boxes, etc. - Authority II - Assist in performing and interpreting power calculations, power factor, insulation tests, and positive relay tests as required - Authority II - Study and understand electrical schematics as required - Authority I - Maintain an adequate supply of spares to fulfill maintenance requirements; inform Chief Electrician when there is need to reorder. - Authority II - Inform supervisor and other department heads of any technical problems or limitations that may affect the safe operation of the rig - Authority I - Assist with the implementation of outstanding recommendations from audits, as issued by Clients, Regulatory Authorities or rig management - Authority II - Ensure that reports for repair and maintenance of equipment are accurate and complete - Authority I - Assist in supplying information for maintenance and repair budget - Authority II - Communicate equipment problems or breakdown information via direct supervisor to Field Support Group - Authority II QHSE: - - Incorporate the THINK planning process into all tasks, whether working alone or as part of a team - Authority I - Participate daily in START Process - Authority I - Apply START Monitoring during the execution of planned tasks - Authority I - Call a Time Out for Safety (TOFS) whenever an unplanned hazard or a change in the expected results is observed - Authority I - Carry out assigned duties in a safe manner according to Company policies and procedures - Authority I - Actively participate in weekly safety meetings and pre-tour meetings as required - Authority I - Report any incidents, potential hazards or abnormal situations to supervisor and other department heads - Authority I - Respond to emergency situations as per designation on station bill - Authority I - Assist in preparing Safety Analysis for hazardous situations - Authority II - Ensure that all relevant safety procedures and practices are adhered to during mechanical maintenance work - Authority I - Assist in ensuring that a high standard of hygiene and housekeeping is maintained onboard the rig - Authority I - Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for environmental protection - Authority I Personnel: - - Meet the training requirements of the applicable training matrix - Authority I - Participate fully in the annual performance appraisal process - Authority I - Assist with the supervision and training of the Electrical Trainee - Authority II - Maintain discipline onboard and ensure compliance with Company disciplinary procedures - Authority II
