Description
Welding NDE Specialist – Uganda
On behalf of a major oil & gas operator, WRS are seeking an experienced Welding & NDE Specialist to join our team on a 12-month renewable contract, working on a rotational 8/2 schedule on site. This role offers a day rate in USD and the opportunity to contribute to a major infrastructure project.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and coordinate Welding and NDE activities to ensure compliance with project specifications.
Implement and manage the Welding Qualification Management System (WQMS).
Provide technical support and guidance to contractors on welding and NDT processes.
Conduct inspections, testing, and validation of welding procedures and results.
Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of welding and NDE equipment.
Monitor welding repairs and oversee material storage and preservation.
Conduct audits and reviews of contractor and vendor documentation.
Support the implementation of training programs and qualification processes.
Requirements:
Minimum 8 years’ experience in a similar role on large-scale pipeline construction projects.
Previous experience working directly for the client on oil & gas or major infrastructure projects.
CSWIP 3.1 certification (or equivalent) preferred.
ISO 9712 or ASNT CP-189 certification in NDT techniques (UT, RT, MT, PT) is an advantage.
Strong knowledge of international codes and standards (ASME, API, AWS).
Proficiency in industry applications, including MS Office.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
