Job Description
An offshore operator is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician / Watchkeeper to join an offshore installation team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, inspection, and maintenance of mechanical equipment, engine room systems, utilities, and power generation equipment.
The role combines mechanical maintenance with engine room watchkeeping and safety-critical offshore duties. The successful candidate should have relevant Oil & Gas or Marine industry maintenance experience and previous marine watchkeeping experience.
The position also involves participation in emergency response activities and may require the individual to act as an Area Authority when assigned.
Key Responsibilities
As per company policy, the main duties may include but are not limited to:
- Operate, monitor, inspect, and maintain mechanical equipment, machinery, utilities, and power generation systems.
- Conduct engine room watchkeeping, machinery inspections, and maintain accurate operational logbooks.
- Monitor machinery performance and support efficient fuel and oil consumption.
- Operate service, steam, and hotel systems and perform associated maintenance activities.
- Carry out planned and corrective maintenance using Maximo MMS.
- Perform grease sampling, water testing, and other mechanical condition-monitoring activities.
- Maintain emergency plant and equipment and support emergency response operations.
- Support safety-critical activities including hot work, enclosed-space entry, chemical handling, fuel transfers, and bunkering.
- Act as Area Authority when required.
- Participate in Engine Room Control Room and Offshore Emergency Response Team duties.
Requirements
- Relevant recognised Engine Room Systems qualification
- Relevant maintenance experience in the Oil & Gas or Marine industry
- Previous Marine Watchkeeping experience
- Combined Offshore Survival, Fire Fighting & HUET
- MIST / IMIST
- Valid UK Offshore Medical Certificate
- Valid UK Certificate of Fitness for Emergency Response Team duties
- Good knowledge of mechanical equipment and offshore maintenance practices
- Strong safety and environmental awareness
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multinational offshore team
- Demonstrated initiative, integrity, cooperation, flexibility, and reliability
