Job Description:

Boreas Maritime is seeking an experienced Chief Mate to join Tug 01, operating around Jamaica and Caribbean routes. The ideal candidate should have proven tugboat experience, appropriate maritime qualifications, strong deck operation skills, and the ability to support safe and efficient vessel operations.

Candidates based in the Caribbean or Latin America are particularly welcome. A valid US visa is an advantage but is not mandatory. Fluency in English is required for officer positions.

Key Responsibilities:
As per company policy, the main duties may include but are not limited to:

• Assist the Master with navigation, towing operations, and vessel manoeuvring.
• Coordinate deck operations and supervise assigned deck crew.
• Maintain deck equipment and ensure operational readiness.
• Implement onboard safety procedures and maintain emergency preparedness.
• Support routine inspections and compliance with maritime regulations.

Requirements:

• Appropriate maritime qualifications and certificates for the Chief Mate position.
• Valid STCW certificates.
• Valid medical fitness certificate.
• Proven experience as a Chief Mate or in a similar officer role aboard tugboats.
• Fluency in English.
• Candidates based in the Caribbean or Latin America are particularly welcome.

• Strong organizational and teamwork skills.
