Job Description

TOS People is recruiting an experienced Chief Mate to join an MPSV on standby in Las Palmas.

The successful candidate will assist the Captain with vessel management, navigation, deck operations, safety management, and standby readiness. Previous experience on similar offshore vessels and knowledge of diesel-electric propulsion systems are required.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Captain with the safe navigation and operation of the vessel.
• Support passage planning and bridge watchkeeping duties.
• Supervise deck operations, maintenance, and assigned deck personnel.
• Maintain safety equipment, lifesaving appliances, and relevant deck documentation.
• Coordinate onboard safety drills and emergency preparedness activities.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures and applicable maritime safety requirements.
• Support standby operations and maintain vessel readiness.
• Coordinate with the engineering department regarding operational requirements.

Requirements

• Relevant experience as a Chief Mate / Chief Officer on MPSV or similar offshore vessels.
• Previous experience with diesel-electric propulsion systems – mandatory.
• Valid Chief Mate Certificate of Competency appropriate to the position.
• Valid STCW certificates.
• Valid medical fitness certificate and other required seafarer documents, as applicable.
• Good English communication skills.
• Strong deck-management, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Availability to join ASAP.
• Ability to join and sign off in Las Palmas.
