Fitter for General Cargo Vessel

Job Description

Scanmar Maritime Services, Inc. is seeking a skilled Fitter to join a general cargo vessel. The successful candidate will assist with mechanical repairs, fabrication, and maintenance of shipboard machinery and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

As per company policy, the main duties may include but are not limited to:

• Carry out mechanical repairs and maintenance on machinery and equipment.
• Assist with metal cutting, welding, and fabrication tasks where qualified.
• Inspect components and report damage or wear to the responsible engineer.
• Maintain workshop tools and equipment in good working condition.
• Follow safe working practices and comply with onboard maintenance procedures.

Requirements

• Relevant experience as a marine Fitter or in a similar mechanical role.
• Valid STCW certificates appropriate to the position.
• Valid seafarer medical fitness certificate.
• Valid Seaman’s Book and passport.
• Proficiency in English communication.
• Welding or fabrication qualifications are an advantage where relevant to assigned duties.
