Job Description

Columbia Shipmanagement Indonesia is seeking an experienced Bosun to join a Bulk Carrier vessel.

The Bosun will supervise and coordinate the deck ratings, assist with daily deck operations and ensure that deck maintenance and other assigned activities are carried out safely and efficiently under the direction of the Chief Officer.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the work of deck ratings.
• Assist with mooring, anchoring and cargo-related deck operations.
• Organize routine deck maintenance and inspections.
• Ensure deck equipment and tools are maintained in good condition.
• Maintain deck cleanliness and housekeeping standards.
• Follow onboard safety procedures and participate in emergency drills.
• Report defects and unsafe conditions to the responsible officers.

Requirements

• Previous sea-going experience as a Bosun or in a similar deck position.
• Bulk Carrier experience is preferred.
• Relevant professional qualifications and certificates for the position.
• Valid STCW certificates and applicable endorsements.
• Valid medical fitness certificate.
• Valid passport and seafarer documents.
• Good knowledge of deck operations, maintenance and onboard safety procedures.
• Good English communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multinational crew.
