The Welder will report to the Chief Engineer and will be responsible for all welding/cutting tasks on the MODU.
The Welder will:
Immediately report to the Chief Engineer any hazard encountered or observed.
Carry out welding tasks, as required, by the Chief Engineer.
Carry out tasks as part of a multi-disciplined maintenance team.
Act as if so designated and accept the responsibilities of a Person in Charge of Work Site (PICWS) as defined in the company Permit to Work manual.
Carry out emergency duties as assigned in the Station Bill.
Participate fully in all Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives and safety programs
Follow Diamond Offshore Global Excellence Management System (G.E.M.S.)
Perform other duties as required
To ensure, prior to carrying out tasks/duties, all checks and precautions on the Permit to Work have been fully completed and complied with.
Ensure while in the process of carrying out work all reasonable care and attention for the Health and Safety of all personnel, and protection of the environment has been taken.
Ensure all welding, cutting, grinding and other related equipment is maintained in a satisfactory condition in accordance with Statutory Regulations, Operating Procedures and Company Policies.
Ensure all welding related equipment is stored in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures.
Read and understand engineering drawings, plans and procedures.
Comply with all the requirements for Quality Control and Certification Documents.
Assist the Chief Engineer to provide details of proposed modifications/repairs and the completion of Modification Authorisation Forms.
Supply Barge Supervisor with relevant information and weights for the Alterations to Lightship file when modifications are carried out.
Maintain a daily log and handover notes.
Carry out Planned Maintenance on related welding equipment.
Ensure workshop, store and work areas are kept clean, are tidy, and are in a safe condition.
Ensure a full awareness and understanding of all Company regulations and safe working codes of practice.
Maintain personal protective equipment in good working order and ensure gear is work and utilised as required by Company policy.
Attend safety meetings in accordance with Company policy.
Liaise with the Storekeeper to ensure the maintenance of sufficient stock levels of the materials required to accomplish the tasks normally required of this position.
Legally authorised to work in the United Kingdom without restriction
Willing and able to be away from home in excess of 21 days
Possess a valid passport.
Possess a valid BOSIET certification
Possess a valid MIST certification
Possess a valid OGUK Medical Certificate
Previous offshore drilling experience
