Job Description:
OSM Thome is currently recruiting a Crane Operator Assistant to join an Offshore Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit operating in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The successful candidate will support safe and efficient offshore lifting operations, assisting the Crane Operator with cargo handling, equipment maintenance, and deck activities while ensuring compliance with company procedures and offshore safety regulations.
This position offers the opportunity to work as part of a professional marine and deck crew in a dynamic offshore environment.
Key Responsibilities:
As per company policy, the main duties may include but are not limited to:
Assist the Crane Operator with internal lifting operations and cargo transfers between the FPSO and supply vessels.
Operate the crane under the supervision of the Crane Operator, following approved operational procedures.
Monitor lifting operations and ensure personal and team safety at all times.
Inspect crane operating conditions, perform instrument checks, and report any defects.
Carry out routine maintenance, cleaning, and upkeep of cranes and associated lifting equipment.
Assist with cargo loading, unloading, positioning, and securing on deck.
Support deck operations and perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Participate in emergency response duties, including abandonment procedures and emergency drills.
Assist with helicopter reception operations when required.
Requirements:
Valid STCW certificates.
Valid medical fitness certificate.
Previous offshore experience as a Crane Operator Assistant, Deck Crew member, or in a similar offshore lifting role.
Experience working onboard FPSO, offshore production units, or similar offshore vessels is preferred.
Knowledge of offshore lifting operations and cargo handling procedures.
Good English communication skills.
Strong commitment to safety and ability to work effectively within a multicultural offshore team.
