Position

Wiper — Engine Department

The Wiper is part of the Engine Team and is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in the engine room and related areas, as well as assisting with cleaning, sanitation, painting, and basic maintenance tasks under the supervision of the engineering team.

This is an important behind-the-scenes position that helps ensure the ship’s machinery spaces are maintained to a high standard.

Main Responsibilities

• Stand engine room duties as instructed by Senior Engine Officers.
• Keep engine spaces and related areas clean and tidy at all times, including washing.
• Participate in maintenance work, particularly equipment sanitization, under supervision.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in garbage areas, garbage cold storage rooms, and cooking oil areas.
• Participate in pest elimination activities where required.
• Clean and paint engine spaces, including bilges, as directed by the Chief Motorman.
• Assist with general maintenance of machinery spaces.
• Wash and rinse containers and equipment upon completion of cleaning operations.
• Perform additional duties as requested by the engineering management.
• Follow all Carnival Occupational Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain a strong focus on shipboard safety and environmental requirements.
• Work effectively as part of the Engine Team.

Requirements

• 6–12 months of proven shipboard experience as a Wiper.
• High School Diploma and/or technical training.
• Preferably COP III/4 or III/5.
• 21+ years old.
• Basic STCW Training.
• English language proficiency.
• Ability to follow Occupational Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Ability to work well within a team.
• Ability to effectively represent the Carnival brand.
• Physically fit and able to perform the duties required in an engine department.

Additional Requirements

• Minimum 6 months of experience in a similar role.
• Intermediate level of English is required.
• Guest-facing experience may be required.
• Positive “Can-Do” attitude.
• Strong commitment to safety, cleanliness, teamwork, and company standards.
