The Assistant Plumber is part of the Engine Team and plays an important behind-the-scenes role in maintaining the vessel’s plumbing and water systems. The position supports the operation of potable water, technical water, greywater, and blackwater systems throughout the ship.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As an Assistant Plumber, you will work as part of a small and hardworking plumbing team, supporting the Chief Plumber with maintenance and upkeep across the vessel.

You may work in guest, crew, and technical areas, making this a varied role where no two days are necessarily the same.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform plumbing maintenance and upkeep under the supervision of the Chief Plumber.
• Assist with the maintenance of the vessel’s potable water, technical water, greywater, and blackwater systems.
• Support plumbing operations in guest, crew, and technical areas throughout the ship.
• Assist with ensuring all plumbing systems remain fully operational.
• Follow company occupational health and safety procedures at all times.
• Attend required safety training and drills.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Chief Plumber.
• Work effectively as part of the Engine Team and support the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 24 months of experience as a Plumber.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Technical training in Plumbing.
• Basic Training Certificates in accordance with STCW standards.
• English language proficiency.
• Strong focus on shipboard safety management.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Minimum age: 21 years.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• Previous shipboard experience in the same capacity, preferably onboard a cruise ship.
• Experience working with marine plumbing and vessel water systems.
• Previous experience working in a multicultural and international environment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Experience Level:
At least 2–4 years of experience in a similar role.

English Proficiency:
Intermediate English proficiency is required.

Guest-Facing Experience:
Some level of interaction with guests may be required.

Physical Fitness:
Candidates must pass a Seafarers Medical Fitness Examination.

A positive, proactive approach and willingness to work as part of a team are expected.
