JOB DESCRIPTION
Carnival Cruise Line is seeking dedicated individuals to join its Engine Team as Oilers.
As part of the Engine Department, the Oiler is responsible for maintaining, cleaning, and, when required, operating shipboard machinery and equipment. The role also includes performing engine watch duties, monitoring machinery spaces, identifying malfunctions and abnormal conditions, and reporting them to the Engineering Officer on Watch.
This is an essential behind-the-scenes position that contributes to maintaining the vessel to a high standard and supporting safe and efficient ship operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As per company policy, the main duties may include but are not limited to:
- Stand Engine Watch as instructed by the Senior Engine Officers.
- Operate and maintain lubrication systems in machinery spaces.
- Supervise machinery spaces during watch duties.
- Promptly report malfunctions and abnormal conditions to the Engineering Officer on Watch.
- Monitor bilge conditions and carry out cleaning and maintenance as instructed.
- Perform cleaning and painting of engine spaces, including bilges, as directed by the Chief Motorman.
- Read various gauges, including temperature and pressure gauges, and record readings in the appropriate logs.
- Maintain engine and machinery spaces in a clean and safe condition.
- Follow all environmental policies and procedures at all times.
- Perform additional tasks as requested by the Staff Chief Engineer.
- Follow Carnival’s Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Participate in required safety training, drills, and other shipboard activities.
- Work effectively as part of the Engine Team.
- Represent the Carnival brand in a professional manner at all times.

REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 12 months of shipboard experience as an Oiler.
- High School Diploma.
- Relevant technical training.
- Applicants must be 21 years of age or older.
- English language proficiency.
- Strong focus on ship safety management.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to follow Carnival’s Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Professional attitude and ability to represent the Carnival brand.
Preferred Requirements
- Previous experience as an Oiler onboard cruise ships.
