Job Description:
Carnival Cruise Line is seeking a qualified Assistant Officer of the Watch (A.O.O.W.) to join the Deck Department onboard one of its cruise vessels.
The A.O.O.W. supports the Officer of the Watch (OOW) and assists with bridge watchkeeping, voyage plan monitoring, safety operations, vessel stability, life-saving and fire-fighting equipment, deck department documentation, inspections, maintenance, and crew safety drills.
The position is also assigned responsibilities within the Company's Training, Drill, and Assessment Program and must ensure that applicable Safety and Environmental policies and procedures are properly implemented.

Key Responsibilities:
As per company policy, the main duties may include but are not limited to:
• Act as Assistant Bridge Watch Keeper as required by BRMM procedures and assist the OOW with monitoring the voyage plan in accordance with V.P.P. procedures.
• Assist the Safety Officer with inspections and maintenance of life-saving appliances, including lifeboats, life rafts, davits, cranes, and fire-fighting equipment and systems.
• Assist with vessel stability calculations, freshwater and ballast management, and use of the onboard NAPA stability calculation system under the supervision of the OOW.
• Assist with tank inspections, maintenance, and record keeping for freshwater, ballast water, and grey water systems.
• Support the OOW and Safety Officer with certificates, crew certifications, PMS Safety, SMS documentation, safety drills, and other deck department safety-related activities.

Requirements:
• Valid STCW certificates
• Valid Officer of the Watch / Deck Officer certification appropriate for the position
• Medical fitness certificate
• Proficiency in English communication
• Relevant experience in a similar deck officer position
• Knowledge of bridge watchkeeping and voyage planning procedures
• Familiarity with vessel stability calculations and ballast/freshwater management
• Knowledge of life-saving and fire-fighting equipment
• Ability to work in accordance with the Company's Safety Management System (SMS) and environmental procedures
• Ability to participate in training, drills, assessments, inspections, and maintenance activities
