Job Description:
Carnival Cruise Line is looking for an Assistant Fitter Mechanic to join its Engine Team onboard a cruise ship. The position supports the maintenance and repair of the vessel’s technical, Galley and Laundry equipment.
Assistant Fitter Mechanics work alongside the Engine Team to ensure shipboard equipment operates properly and reliably, helping maintain the amenities and services provided to guests. The role includes mechanical repair and maintenance, work with marine engines and equipment, and participation in onboard safety and environmental procedures.
The position is an entry point toward a technical career onboard Carnival’s cruise ships.

Key Responsibilities:
As per company policy, the main duties may include but are not limited to:
• Assist with major and specialized mechanical overhaul and repair work on marine equipment, identifying requirements for repairs or adjustments.
• Assist with maintenance and repair of hydraulic equipment and valves.
• Operate hand and power tools associated with marine engines and equipment.
• Assist with maintenance and repair of the ship’s Laundry and Galley equipment.
• Perform engine-room daily duties, on-call work, safety training and drills while following environmental procedures.

Requirements:
• Minimum 12 months of experience with engine repairs and maintenance
• High School Diploma and technical training
• Applicant must be 21+ years old
• Basic Training Certificates in accordance with STCW standards
• English language proficiency
• Strong focus on the ship’s safety management
• Ability to work well with a team
• Physically fit and able to pass a Seafarers Medical Fitness Examination
Preferred / Additional:
• Shipboard experience in the same capacity onboard a cruise ship
• 1–2 years of experience in a similar role
• Intermediate English proficiency
• Minimum guest interaction experience
• “Can-do” attitude with a focus on continuous improvement and collaboration
