Job Description

Vela Recruitment is seeking an experienced Deckhand with a strong mechanical background to join a 75m private motor yacht currently operating in the Mediterranean.

The yacht is preparing for a worldwide cruising programme, offering an exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic and professional deck team.

The successful candidate will have at least two years of yachting experience, hold a Yacht Rating qualification, and demonstrate a confident, professional, and guest-focused approach.

Position Available

• Deckhand – Salary DOE (depending on experience)

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with daily deck operations and maintenance
• Carry out cleaning, washing, polishing, and general deck preservation
• Support mooring, anchoring, and tender operations
• Assist with guest activities and watersports operations
• Perform basic mechanical maintenance and repairs
• Maintain deck equipment and ensure operational readiness
• Follow onboard safety procedures and work effectively as part of the deck team

Requirements

Mandatory Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of yachting experience
• Mechanical background
• Valid Yacht Rating qualification
• Confident, professional, and guest-focused attitude
• Positive approach and ability to work effectively within a busy deck team
• Good communication and teamwork skills

Advantageous Qualifications

• AEC2 (Approved Engine Course 2)
• PWCI (Personal Watercraft Instructor)
• Yachtmaster Offshore
