Job Description:
Senior shore-based Ship Manager for a leading cruise operator, responsible for safe, compliant, and efficient operation of modern passenger vessels, acting as key link between onboard and shoreside teams.
Positions Available (Ranks):
Key Responsibilities:
- Take overall responsibility for operational performance of assigned vessels, ensuring safe, compliant, and cost-effective operations
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with onboard senior management teams, providing technical and operational support
- Manage vessel operating budgets focusing on repair, maintenance, consumables, and hotel technical expenditure
- Monitor vessel performance, conduct operational review meetings, and implement improvement plans
- Ensure compliance with maritime regulations, company policies, environmental standards, and safety management systems
- Support planning and execution of maintenance periods, technical projects, dry docks, and fleet improvement initiatives
- Manage warranty and guarantee claims with shipyards and equipment suppliers
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders across technical, marine, hotel, and operational departments
- Contribute to fleet-wide projects and strategic initiatives to improve efficiency and vessel performance
Requirements:
- Degree qualified Naval Architect, Marine Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, or similar technical discipline
- Minimum 5 years experience in cruise, passenger vessel, or maritime industry with operator, shipowner, technical management, or classification society
- Previous sailing experience as Chief Engineer on cruise vessels highly advantageous
- Strong understanding of vessel maintenance, operational performance management, and budget control
- Experience managing OPEX budgets and improving operational efficiency
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Proactive, results-oriented with focus on safety, compliance, and continuous improvement
- Legal right to live and work in the UK
