Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Captain to join a modern river cruise ship.

The successful candidate will take overall responsibility for the safe navigation and operation of the vessel, lead and coordinate the nautical crew, and ensure that guests enjoy a safe, smooth and unforgettable journey.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently navigate and operate the river cruise ship.
• Ensure safe, efficient and cost-effective vessel operations.
• Lead, motivate and coordinate the nautical crew.
• Plan crew activities, watches and operational tasks.
• Ensure full compliance with applicable navigation, safety, environmental and inland-waterway regulations.
• Coordinate with port authorities, locks, terminals and other relevant authorities.
• Represent the company professionally toward guests, partners and external stakeholders.
• Take responsibility for the proper maintenance, care and operational condition of the vessel.
• Ensure emergency procedures and onboard safety standards are maintained.
• Maintain required vessel documentation and operational records.

Requirements

• Valid Captain / Master Certificate appropriate for the applicable inland-waterway routes.
• Several years of experience as a Captain / Ship's Master in inland navigation.
• Previous river cruise ship experience is an advantage.
• Strong leadership, organizational and crew-management skills.
• High level of responsibility and sound decision-making ability.
• Professional, friendly and guest-oriented manner.
• Good knowledge of German – required.
• English language skills are an advantage.
• Willingness to work multi-day assignments / rotations.
• Valid medical fitness and all required professional documents.
