Captain for Motor Yacht (Florida)

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and highly hands-on Captain to take command of a busy 37M heavy charter yacht operating between Florida and the Caribbean.

This is a demanding, fast-paced charter program with frequent guest trips and quick turnarounds. The successful candidate must be actively involved in the day-to-day operation of the yacht and comfortable working alongside the crew rather than managing exclusively from an office.

The Captain will be expected to lead by example and participate in practical deck operations, including handling lines, docking, driving tenders, supporting quick turnarounds, and assisting the crew with general yacht operations when required. The role also includes responsibility for compliance, maintenance, vessel administration, and maintaining high operational standards.

Strong guest interaction skills are essential. The ideal candidate will be warm, energetic, approachable, and polished, with the personality and professionalism required to contribute positively to the overall charter experience.

Key Responsibilities:

As per company policy, the main duties may include but are not limited to:

• Take overall command and responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the 37M charter yacht.
• Lead the crew in a hands-on manner, actively assisting with docking, line handling, tender operations, and deck activities.
• Navigate confidently throughout Florida, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean.
• Manage vessel compliance, maintenance, administration, and operational requirements.
• Provide professional and engaging interaction with charter guests while maintaining a positive and respectful crew environment.
• Support fast charter turnarounds and assist with general crew duties when required.

Requirements:

• Minimum 500GT Certificate of Competency (CoC).
• Proven experience in charter yacht command.
• Extensive experience working in busy charter operations.
• Strong navigation experience in Florida, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean.
• Hands-on experience with docking, line handling, tenders, and deck operations.
• Strong knowledge of vessel compliance, maintenance, and administration.
• Calm, decisive, and solutions-focused approach under pressure.
• Strong leadership and crew-management skills.
• Excellent guest-service and interpersonal skills.
• Warm, energetic, approachable, and professional personality.
• Appropriate documentation to operate between Florida and the Caribbean.
• Proficiency in English communication.
• Medical fitness certificate.
