Captain for Motor Yacht (Florida)

Job Description

An experienced and highly hands-on Captain is required to take command of a 37M Heavy Charter Yacht operating between Florida and the Caribbean.

This is a demanding, fast-paced charter program with frequent guest trips and quick turnarounds. The Captain will be actively involved in the day-to-day operation of the yacht and is expected to work alongside the crew rather than operate solely from an office.

The successful candidate will be responsible for safe navigation, vessel operations, charter guest experience, crew leadership, maintenance coordination, compliance, and vessel administration. A personable and engaging approach is particularly important, as the Captain will have regular interaction with charter guests.

The yacht operates under a foreign flag. Candidates must hold the appropriate documentation to operate between Florida, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean.

Key Responsibilities

As per company policy, the main duties may include but are not limited to:

• Taking overall command and responsibility for the safe operation of the yacht.
• Actively participating in docking, line handling, tender operations, deck work, and quick charter turnarounds.
• Navigating safely throughout Florida, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean.
• Managing vessel compliance, maintenance, administration, and operational documentation.
• Leading and supporting the crew while maintaining a positive, professional, and respectful working environment.
• Interacting professionally and warmly with charter guests and contributing to a high-quality guest experience.

Requirements

• Minimum 500GT CoC required.
• Proven charter command experience required.
• Extensive experience operating busy charter yachts.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience navigating Florida, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean.
• Hands-on experience with docking, line handling, tenders, and deck operations.
• Appropriate documentation to operate between Florida and the Caribbean.
• Valid certificates and documents required for the yacht's foreign flag.
• Strong knowledge of vessel compliance, maintenance, and administration.
• Excellent leadership and crew-management skills.
• Professional and confident communication with charter guests.
• Proficiency in English communication.
• No couples.
