Job Description:
Carnival Cruise Line is seeking an HVAC & Refrigeration Cadet to join the technical team onboard one of its cruise vessels.
This position is offered on a 4 months onboard / 2 months vacation rotation and provides practical training and experience in the maintenance and operation of the vessel's ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
Working under the supervision of the HVAC & Refrigeration Engineer and Refrigeration Officer, the candidate will develop knowledge of complex HVAC systems, compressors, inverters, automation, and related equipment while performing basic mechanical and maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
As per company policy, the main duties may include but are not limited to:
• Assist and learn from the HVAC & Refrigeration Engineer in the maintenance and upkeep of ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
• Learn to perform checks on AC and provision compressors and verify that operating parameters are within required values.
• Learn to check the correct operation of inverters and other HVAC components and compare measured values with actuator positions and design parameters.
• Assist the Refrigeration Officer with maintenance and routine testing of equipment, instruments, and automation systems.
• Perform basic mechanical tasks under supervision and participate in drills, training, and additional assignments related to the vessel's operations and training program.

Requirements:
• High School Diploma — mandatory
• Minimum age: 18 years
• Previous working experience with complex multi-unit HVAC systems is desirable
• Experience in HVAC maintenance and repairs is preferred
• Formal accreditation/certification in advanced HVAC maintenance is desirable and will be assessed on a regional/case-by-case basis
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role or industry is preferred
• Medical fitness certificate
• Proficiency in English communication
• Ability to comply with Occupational Health and Safety and HESS-MS requirements
