Job Description:
Joining Carnival Cruise Line as an Engine Cadet is the first step toward a career as an Engine Officer onboard one of the company's cruise ships.
The Engine Cadet works under the supervision of the Engine Officers and Chief Engineer, gaining practical experience in engine-room operations, watchkeeping, machinery operation, maintenance, safety procedures, and technical documentation. The position is designed to provide hands-on training and development in preparation for a future career as a Marine Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:
As per company policy, the main duties may include but are not limited to:
• Assist Engine Officers with watchkeeping duties, daily engine-room operations, engine rounds, system monitoring, and reporting of observations.
• Learn and assist with the operation of power generation systems, main engine auxiliaries, purification equipment, compressors, steam systems, and water treatment systems.
• Support inspections of bilge systems and piping, machinery start-up and shutdown procedures, and monitoring of operating parameters under supervision.
• Gain practical knowledge of fire protection systems, sewage handling, technical manuals, diagrams, and ship drawings.
• Maintain the Engine Cadet Record Book and required documentation, participate in safety drills and training exercises, and support engineering activities during vessel arrivals and departures.

• Valid STCW certificates as required for the position
• Mandatory Nautical High School Diploma
• Minimum age: 18 years
• Medical fitness certificate
• Ability to communicate effectively in English
