2nd Engineer for Cruise Liner (International)

Job Description:
Carnival Cruise Line is seeking a qualified 2nd Engineer to join the technical team aboard one of its cruise vessels.

The 2nd Engineer plays a vital role in the vessel’s technical operations and reports to the Staff Chief Engineer and Chief Engineer. The position is responsible for monitoring, controlling, and troubleshooting engine-room machinery and technical equipment while on watch, in accordance with company policies, procedures, safe working practices, and environmental requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
As per company policy, the main duties may include but are not limited to:
• Stand engine-room watch under the direction of the Chief Engineer and supervise the assigned 3rd Engineering Officer.
• Operate and monitor main engines, auxiliary machinery, fuel systems, and purifiers, including HFO, MDO, and LO systems.
• Monitor and maintain bilge, sludge, ballast, heeling, grey water, black water, freshwater production, and technical water systems.
• Oversee propulsion equipment including Azipods, thrusters, stabilizers, and steering gear.
• Issue and control Permits to Work, maintain technical logs and maintenance records, and ensure compliance with MARPOL, SOLAS, and company safety standards.

Requirements:
• Valid STCW certificates
• Valid marine engineering license/certification appropriate for the position
• Medical fitness certificate
• Proficiency in English communication
• Relevant experience in a similar engineering position
• Knowledge of marine engineering systems, safe working practices, and environmental regulations
