Job Description

Atlas NextWave is recruiting an experienced Cook to join a Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) operating at London Gateway, UK.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing meals for officers and crew, maintaining galley hygiene, and ensuring provisions are stored and handled appropriately.

The initial contract is six weeks, with the opportunity to return after leave and join a permanent crew rotation schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare meals for officers and crew.
• Maintain good food quality and accommodate dietary requirements where practicable.
• Keep the galley, mess areas, and food-storage spaces clean and organized.
• Manage food provisions and monitor inventory.
• Ensure proper food handling, storage, and hygiene practices.
• Maintain galley equipment in a clean and safe condition.
• Minimize food waste and use provisions efficiently.
• Follow onboard health, safety, and catering procedures.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Cook in a maritime, offshore, or similar catering environment.
• Knowledge of food hygiene, safe food handling, and galley operations.
• Relevant food-safety or catering certificates, where required.
• Ability to prepare meals for a working crew and organize provisioning.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to cleanliness.
• Good communication skills and a responsible, team-oriented attitude.
• Valid Seaman’s Book, STCW certificates, and medical fitness certificate where applicable to the position.
• Availability to join on 23 December 2026.
