Job Description

Vela Recruitment is seeking an experienced Crew Chef to join an Italy-based 50m private motor yacht for the winter season.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing healthy, nutritious, and varied meals for a crew of 13. This is a port-based position within a close-knit and stable team, ideal for a chef with previous yacht experience and a strong understanding of crew catering.

Position Available

• Crew Chef – EUR 4,000/month

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare fresh, healthy, and nutritious meals for a crew of 13
• Plan varied menus to meet the crew's dietary needs
• Manage food provisioning and stock levels
• Maintain high standards of galley cleanliness and hygiene
• Monitor food storage and ensure proper handling
• Organise galley operations efficiently
• Work positively and collaboratively with the onboard team

Requirements

Mandatory Requirements

• Previous experience as a Crew Chef onboard a yacht
• Strong knowledge of healthy and varied crew cuisine
• Confidence in preparing fresh, nutritious meals for a busy crew
• Good organisational and time-management skills
• Experience with provisioning and stock management
• Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills
• Valid Ships Cook Certificate

Advantageous Qualifications and Experience

• Experience catering for larger crews
• Formal culinary qualifications
