Chief Cook for General Cargo Vessel

Job Description

Scanmar Maritime Services, Inc. is seeking a qualified Chief Cook to join a general cargo vessel. The successful candidate will be responsible for meal preparation, galley management, food safety, and maintaining high standards of hygiene onboard.

Key Responsibilities

As per company policy, the main duties may include but are not limited to:

• Prepare nutritious meals for officers and crew according to the vessel's menu and schedule.
• Manage galley supplies, food storage, and inventory.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the galley and food preparation areas.
• Ensure proper handling and storage of food in accordance with safety standards.
• Minimize food waste and report supply requirements to the responsible officer.

Requirements

• Relevant experience as a Chief Cook onboard vessels.
• Valid STCW certificates as applicable to the position.
• Valid seafarer medical fitness certificate.
• Valid Seaman’s Book and passport.
• Proficiency in English communication.
• Knowledge of food safety, galley hygiene, and meal planning.
