May 14, 2026 (Bloomberg) – Two ships carrying cooking fuel to India have recently passed through the Strait of Hormuz despite ongoing restrictions from the US and Iran.

One of the vessels, Symi, was spotted in the Gulf of Oman on Thursday after switching off its location signal. Another ship, NV Sunshine, did the same a few hours later.

These two vessels bring the total of large oil, fuel, and gas ships that have successfully navigated through the Hormuz Strait since Sunday to ten. This number is higher than in previous weeks and comes amid stalled negotiations to resolve the ongoing conflict.

More exporters from the Persian Gulf are finding ways to get their cargoes out. For instance, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. has been sending fuel on ships that are not broadcasting their exact locations as they pass through the strait.

The NV Sunshine, which loaded liquefied petroleum gas at the Ruwais refinery in the United Arab Emirates, was detected in the Gulf of Oman late Thursday morning. It had last transmitted its position east of Iran’s Larak Island before going dark. Initially, it was set to reach Mangalore in India, but it is now showing Kandla in western India as its destination. Meanwhile, the Symi is transporting fuel from Ras Laffan in Qatar to Kandla.
