Exciting News from McAllister Towing! We are thrilled to introduce our latest tugboat, the MARY McALLISTER. As our customers' vessels become larger and the demands on our services increase, McAllister is committed to utilizing modern and eco-friendly equipment to meet these needs.
The MARY is an American-built tug, crafted at Washburn & Doughty Associates, Inc. in Maine. It is part of a series of seven tugs that are certified by the American Bureau of Shipping. With a bollard pull of 84 metric tons, this low-emission tractor tug is equipped with CAT Tier IV engines that generate 6,770 horsepower. The MARY holds several certifications from ABS, including +A-1 Towing, +AMS, Fire Fighting (FiFi 1), Escort, and Low Emissions Vessel. In terms of firefighting capabilities, it is equipped with pumps and monitors that can deliver 12,000 gallons of water and foam every minute.
While the MARY is destined for sunny Florida, it will first embark on a tour along the US East Coast. It left the Washburn & Doughty yard just in time to face an incoming nor’easter and will navigate its first North Atlantic storm in Portland. The MARY will then join its sister vessel, ISABEL, in Baltimore to complete its first work assignment as part of the McAllister fleet. After its stint in Baltimore, the MARY will head to its homeport in Port Everglades, where it will serve efficiently for many years to come.
We are excited to welcome the MARY to our fleet as a state-of-the-art, low-emission tugboat that is ready to tackle mission-critical tasks in global trade. Since 1864, McAllister Towing has remained family-owned through five generations and continues to invest in new, American-made tugs, with another planned for 2027.
