On August 22, Iran has allowed some Iraqi oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz after Iraq made several requests. This information was reported by Iran's state news agency IRNA on Saturday.

According to IRNA, getting special permission for Iraqi tankers was a key demand during the visit of Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf to Iraq.

Iraqi President Nizar Amedi mentioned on Saturday that Iran has recently made it easier for vessels carrying Iraqi oil to travel through the Strait. He also noted that discussions about exporting Iraqi oil through Hormuz took place between Iraqi and Iranian officials.

He added that the situation is still complex while speaking at the Baghdad Dialogue policy conference.

Iraq has faced significant challenges due to Iran’s de facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz. The number of ships using the strait is still much lower than it was before the war, and incidents of attacks on ships in the region continue.

Before the Iran war began, Iraq was producing about 4 million barrels of oil daily.

To boost oil exports, Baghdad is working on expanding routes through Turkey's Ceyhan port and plans to start exporting oil via Syria's Baniyas port and Jordan's Aqaba port, according to Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi's statement on Friday.
