MUMBAI, April 18 (Reuters) – India has summoned the Iranian ambassador in New Delhi to express its "deep concern" regarding the attack on two Indian-flagged ships that were trying to pass through the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday.
One of the attacked vessels was the Sanmar Herald, according to an Indian government source.
The crew and the ship are reported to be safe, the source confirmed.
India's top foreign ministry official requested the Iranian ambassador to communicate India's concerns to the Iranian authorities and to expedite the process of allowing Indian-bound ships to cross the Strait, as stated by the ministry.
The ambassador agreed to relay India's concerns to the appropriate authorities in Iran.
